The project aims at implementing a fully operational platform for cross-border data collaboration to cope with shared risks and disasters due to emergency scenarios.
The objective is that the Italian and Tunisian sides collaborate in response to a simulated accident impacting the nearby population by causing health risks and atmospheric and marine pollution. In such a context, one of the challenges is that two different nations with different legal frameworks should cooperate in an ongoing emergence; communication between partners should be clear and concise in describing their intentions in a shared emergency plan, also clearly separating the responsibilities of each country in the intervention.
The NETTUNIT project will offer a unique opportunity to respond to the growing environmental threat, particularly atmospheric and maritime. A solution to this ecological threat requires new, innovative science and demands multidisciplinary collaboration to find a shared solution.
The common challenge of NETTUNIT is to strengthen cooperation between Tunisia and Italy in the confrontation of risks and disasters that can cause serious consequences for humans and the environment in both countries.
The NETTUNIT project aims to develop a fully operational platform to minimize the effects of atmospheric and maritime pollution from such an event and promote rapid environmental recovery and activities and uses. The data will be exchanged between the structures of the two countries to model the risks and the necessary responses.
Finally, the NETTUNIT project promotes citizens’ connection through an application for Smartphones which will be used to receive alerts in the form of geo-located data (maps, text, images, etc.). Depending on the situation, the messages and procedures will be translated and adapted for Tunisia and Italy. Depending on the needs, the necessary information will be provided to users.
