Smart Cultural Glasses

Smart Cultural Glasses are a wearable system based on Augmented Reality (AR) technology for the (outdoor) virtual navigation of contextual information regarding places and monuments of interest. The application is based on a wearable AR helmet and a gestural interface based on a depth sensor, a colour camera and inertial sensors. The goal was to allow users to walk among what represents the material cultural heritage of the city, i.e., buildings and monuments, and at the same time to view and manipulate information through a minimally invasive interface. The system was presented at the event “Tecnologie Digitali: Identità e valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale” held in Naples, Italy, at the Brau Library (Piazza Bellini), from 12 to 19 June 2014.
