Agnese Augello

Agnese Augello is a Research Scientist at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), Institute for High-Performance Computing and Networking (ICAR).

She received a Laurea degree in Computer Engineering (cum laude) from the University of Palermo and achieved, in 2008, a PhD degree in Computer Science Engineering. In 2009 she was nominated “Cultore della Materia (Subject Expert and Teaching Assistant)” in Information Processing Systems (ING-INF/05) by the University of Palermo.

From 2008 to 2011, she worked as a research assistant at the University of Palermo. From 2008 to 2014 and from 2018 to 2022, she was an adjunct professor at the University of Palermo; from 2019 to 2022, she was a Reference Professor at DAMS, University of Palermo.

She was the supervisor of many theses and a member of several committees for research grants, researchers and technical collaborators. She is the author of many scientific papers and a reviewer for several journals and conferences.

Her main research interest regards the modelling of cognitive agents, with a particular focus on issues regarding the modelling and implementation of cognitive architectures, conversational modules, and methodologies for the representation and processing of knowledge at multiple levels of abstraction. Her research activity also deals with the modelling of higher-level capabilities, such as computational creativity and ethical behaviour.
